The eCampus Faculty Development Team, in conjunction with other eCampus staff, hosts Deep Dive discussions each Fall and Spring term. These synchronous virtual meetings are held to provide course-specific academic oversight for eCore curriculum. In each Deep Dive Discussion, eCore faculty collaborate with their colleagues and eCampus staff to review data on student engagement and learning outcomes, evaluate recent course revisions, discuss challenges in the curriculum, and suggest ideas for future improvements.
Each meeting is recorded and shared with all faculty within the discipline, along with a summary report and follow-up action items. Deep Dive Discussions have generated valuable insights for major and minor course revisions as a direct result of faculty feedback. By providing a collaborative forum for subject matter experts who are actively engaged in teaching, Faculty Deep Dive Discussions ensure that enhancing the student learning experience is always at the forefront of continuous improvement initiatives for eCore.
Faculty feedback in these sessions is invaluable, so consider these questions ahead of the meeting to help generate some thoughts for discussion:
- What piece of advice you would give to a new eCore instructor?
- What is working well in the course?
- Do students consistently have challenges with a particular concept or assignment in your course? What revisions could be made to help correct it?
- What can we do to help support your teaching?
- If you could change one thing in the course, what would it be and why?
Additionally, we have a form that faculty may use to submit discussion topics/agenda items ahead of the upcoming course Deep Dive. You’ll receive an email with information, and a link, as the date nears for your course. However, we welcome submissions anytime, please feel free to use the form below for topic/agenda item suggestion.
The upcoming Deep Dive dates are posted below.
